Hunting history in France

Hunting in France is now the subject of debate among hunters who intend to continue the tradition of hunting , and environmentalists who intend to regulate the terms.

Hunting in France during the middle ages

Hunting became a privilege for the nobility: big game hunting (board, deer) was reserved to nobles and elite, although small game (birds) was left the rest of the population. It was during the reign of François Ist that the captaincies hunting are formely created, many areas becoming reserved for royal hunt. Hunting alongside the king of France is a rare privilege and honor among the nobles. These hard restrictions about hunting are the most hated by the peasants.
